Meet Rani Marriott!
When this Mom of 4 amazing kids (Rileigh 12, Blake and Conner 9, and Harper 3) had trouble finding childcare for her youngest and struggled with the available options she did find, she traded her career in marketing to open Marriott Family Child Care, a licensed home daycare for ages 18+ months, right here in the Basin. Her husband Jon was more than supportive in the decision and together they made it happen! Rani’s whole heart is in her work and she loves that her home is a place where children can Learn, Grow, Play, Run, See and Believe. Her love and dedication to the children in her care has not gone unnoticed in this community either, as Marriott Family Child Care took 2nd place in Morongo Basin’s Best of the Best in Day Care Facilities this year! Read more about Rani below, and find out how you can score your own little one’s name in CRAYONS. A side business Rani and her family started this holiday season.
What brought you to the Morongo Basin?
We moved here from Everett, WA 8 years ago to be closer to my husband’s family. He grew up in Joshua Tree just a few streets away from where we live now.
What is your favorite thing about living in the Morongo Basin?
I love the small town feel and that my kids can be kids in our neighborhood like the old days. I also love that we are only 2-3 hrs away from some fun weekend getaways (beach, river, Vegas, theme parks).
What’s your favorite family activity in the Morongo Basin?
We are a soccer family, so we spend several evenings and weekends at the field together. It’s become a family activity for sure!
What’s been your favorite “Mommy Moment” so far?
When my kids are laughing together. There is no greater sound!
What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “Me Time”?
I’m rarely alone, but when I am, I’m either getting my lashes done or a pedicure
What do you love about running your own Daycare?
I love sooo many things. I love working from home, I love the families I work with, and I love being able to spend the day with my own kids (most of the time 😉). What I love most is when one of my daycare kids learns something new or tries something for the first time – seeing them excited is just the best.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Probably that I’m an only child, and that I’m a huge Seahawks fan!
How do you balance work & Mommyhood?
This is a tough one. I work 10-11 hrs with kids and then immediately jump back into mom-mode. It’s not always easy, but I try my best to give all the kids some undivided attention. It’s really just a lot of juggling lol.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?
“This too shall pass”. Motherhood is stressful, messy, and challenging. In those moments I always try to remember that it will pass. Just don’t let the amazing times slip by too fast.
