After a class field trip to Sky’s the Limit Observatory and Nature Center in Twentynine Palms, the discovery of their free Saturday Star Parties were definitely something to share.
The Star Parties are hosted on Saturday nights when the moon is not so full (or so bright that it obscures the stars). These sessions start about an hour after after sunset and last approximately two hours.
A variety of types and sizes of telescopes are set up for Star Parties and guests are invited to bring their own binoculars and scopes to the event as well.
Dress for unpredictable desert weather, and bring snacks, water bottles, chairs, and a red flashlight (to preserve night vision). Adults must accompany and take responsibility for the actions and safety of youth under 16.
No alcohol, smoking or pets allowed, and visitors must carry out all trash.
Join the Docents at Sky’s the Limit for these upcoming Star Parties in 2019:
October 19th, 7pm-9pm
October 26th, 7pm-9pm
November 16th, 5:30pm-7:30pm
November 23rd, 5:30pm-7:30pm
November 30th, 5:30pm-7:30pm
If a Saturday date is not listed here, it means the Moon is too bright that weekend for stargazing.
