What is your favorite thing about living in Morongo Basin?
Having the freedom to walk out your front door and you’re a short walk away from hiking trails. It gives the kids a place to explore and roam around.
What’s your favorite family activity in the Morongo Basin?
We love the sports programs the town has to offer. Whether it’s baseball or soccer, we find ourselves enjoining the Saturday rituals for game day.
What are your must haves when you leave the house with the kids?
Snacks and water! I feel like my kids are constantly hungry or thirsty and it’s nice to whip out some crackers before they start to get grouchy.
What’s been your favorite “Mommy Moment” so far?
The moment your kids understand love and they can show that love back to you. Whether it’s a simple “I love you mommy” or “you are so pretty mommy” it makes you feel like you have given them the tools to love and show affection, and that alone is such a great trait to learn and have.
What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “Me Time”?
Being a mom it’s hard to have “me time” but I do cut out 1 hour a day in the morning to workout. It’s the only time in my day where I don’t have to think or stress about what needs to be done.
Why did you decide to open Desert Market?
I have always loved to make things or turn old junk into something new again, but opening up my own store has always been in the back of my mind. I didn’t want to live with the “what if” scenario playing in my head. Thankfully my husband is very supportive and helped me make it happen.
What do you love about your job?
Which one? Lol! I currently and will continue to work with my husband at his family’s business here in town. I love working with my husband, but I am excited to run my own business and the idea of being able to decorate the store for all the holidays is really exciting for me.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about Desert Market and/or yourself?
Desert Market isn’t only an Up-cycled home decor store it’s also a DIY workshop place. I will be hosting all kinds of DIY classes for adults and kids. With limited things to do in this town, I feel like this will be a great idea to give people something to do.
How do you balance work & Mommyhood?
Being a working mom is something I am good at. I tried to stay home for 6 months with the kids and I couldn’t do it. I was going crazy and I felt like I wasn’t being the best mom I could be to my boys.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve gotten from another Mom?
Don’t judge yourself based on what other moms do. Honestly, I was always comparing myself with other moms.
